Using your addiction . . .

Tolle suggests that we use whatever we are addicted to as our consciousness practice. That's if you want
increasing consciousness! Most people don't, but if you are reading this, you probably do.
Makes me want to write about 'wanting'. Ego is never content or satisfied....always wanting. A gratitude list
or getting into loving what you have and where you are, brings you into the present with acceptance. Frees us from ego.

Some say, what do you mean by consciousness? I think of it as being aware of every little thing, everything you say,
how you use words, what you imply or what you omit and every action you make with your body....its not about thinking.
For some people , it's intolerable to be so aware. Eventually one's simple awareness reaches out to connect with all life, and one can even sense the pain or happiness of people in your town and feel the suffering of those whom one has never met.
We humans and perhaps other animals have the capacity to 5th and 6th sense. Of course, knowledge gives us a perspective of possibilities. Study and learning is inevitable and wonderful........ way beyond survival.

What you've written reminds me of a bit of poetry by William Stafford:

For it is important that awake people be awake,/
or a breaking line may discourage them back to sleep;/
the signals we give--yes, no, or maybe--/
should be clear: the darkness around us is deep.
