Endogenous morphines

Or, in other words, Endorphins= chemicals released by the brain thru peptides ( made up of amino acids).

Opiate Receptors= chemicals that receive opiates

After the auto accident , it was about 6 hours before the pain kicked in at the hospital.  The nurses were hooking me up to a morphine delivering system before I felt any pain. Explanation:
Adrenalin causes natural opiates to be released. For a time, the body makes and delivers its own morphhine.  Opiate receptors have been found in the immune system,
the endocrine system, and throughout the body. In fact,
opiate receptors are on the surface of every cell in your body.

Using your addiction . . .

Tolle suggests that we use whatever we are addicted to as our consciousness practice. That's if you want
increasing consciousness! Most people don't, but if you are reading this, you probably do.
Makes me want to write about 'wanting'. Ego is never content or satisfied....always wanting. A gratitude list
or getting into loving what you have and where you are, brings you into the present with acceptance. Frees us from ego.

Some say, what do you mean by consciousness? I think of it as being aware of every little thing, everything you say,
how you use words, what you imply or what you omit and every action you make with your body....its not about thinking.
For some people , it's intolerable to be so aware. Eventually one's simple awareness reaches out to connect with all life, and one can even sense the pain or happiness of people in your town and feel the suffering of those whom one has never met.
We humans and perhaps other animals have the capacity to 5th and 6th sense. Of course, knowledge gives us a perspective of possibilities. Study and learning is inevitable and wonderful........ way beyond survival.

Inherited Traits

Heard on the radio news today that I have not been able to confirm yet:
Plant research has revealed a plant that passes on characteristics from
grandparents to grandchild and is not present in the parent.
That would mean that DNA and genetics has another dimension i.e.
inherited traits are stored someplace else then DNA for recovery when
needed.

Ego plays

Anything that will make us more aware of how the ego plays with us and of how our mind works in the service of
dis-ease will lead to recovery and healing.  You can, of course, choose to keep your dis-ease for the rest of your
life and not become fully conscious.   The ego will be perfectly happy for you to give up your substance addictions and
move on to more subtle addictions.  One, that you can see in "holy people" and parents and children is, Being-the-one-
who-knows; or being-the-best, or having the best or being superior or being smarter or whatever your heart desires, the ego
can use for addiction.  Don't be fooled into thinking addictions are just substances    .Addictions are an ego problem.

All of us have seen religious addiction, money addiction,  sex addiction, power addiction, cleanliness addiction. They are
as serious as substance addictions.   So what is real healing?  None of the above.  Not a good answer.  To be fully conscious is to be aware that we are the light, that we are all connected as one, that only our minds tell us we are
separate, that to harm others is to harm yourself, to know that there is abundance and plenty for all, that a state of love,
kindness, and humility is a way of seeing and experiencing the world, not just for oneself, not just for others, but for all.
How do you treat the Commons? The answer will tell much about yourself.

Sometimes we think a person is the one we love, not realizing that the love is inside us and the other person may open
your heart to love, but it is your heart that is open and with love and it is within your power to open your heart for all.
The other person is not cause.   Without ego to seduce us into addictions (add a voice) we can live each moment in the presense of love for ourselves and others.

Less is more.

Have some fun . . . .

If you want to have some fun , go to  http:// dilbertblog.typepad.com    and read 'Night of the Living Ant", and the
comments. Its about the 4th post right now.

The added voice. . . .

Examples: My life is ruined so I might as well have ________.

I'll never get what I want so at least I can have _________.

Nobody cares so it doesn't matter what happens to me so I might as well have________.

Others may not be able to, but I can have_______.

These are called justifications  that our add- voice uses to give permission.  Self-pity or feeling sorry for oneself
is frequently used in combination with justification.  Also fear and hopelessness  combine with justifications by the
added -voice of ego that overlays our real self  with thoughts and feelings of not-enough, not good enough, and must
have more.

Contentment and gratitude for however little ,  and seeing we are the light if we choose,   oppose the dissatisfaction.

We live by killing

After 9/11 I thought we humans in our great country had the opportunity to show the world how to resolve fear and pain
in a different way...by working with the issues and the people who have themselves had so much pain and fear. We know
how to do it in psychotherapy to help people become loving, gentle, caring adults after incredible fear and pain.

Well, we didn't do it.....just reverted back to killing, which humans have done throughout history. I want to understand why
always the killing as a solution, and have been working on that answer for some time. Alan Watts gave me a clue and this
is how I now understand it. We murder the bodies of plants and animals everyday to eat...to live. Watts poses the question, "Is there any way of avoiding, mitigating, or generally cooling this system of murder and agony which is required
for the existence of even the most saintly human being?" A Zen Buddhist said, "when we kill vegetables, they don't
scream so loud."

We are daily killers. What a habit! What an addiction! When we kill life everyday in order to live, it's such an easy unconscious shift to kill more life. Obsessive-compulsive behavior. One more killing is no different then one more olive.
It's a sickness that we will always have with us.

We live by killing and that explains to me why we will always kill humans as well as other animals and plants. It's just
like a food addiction in that we can never get free of the need to eat, tho we can get free of the need to drink alcohol or
take drugs, or smoke cigarettes, or watch TV. We can live without those ,but not without killing life.

eschatology

means: the branch of theology that treats of death, judgement, and the future state of the soul.

Here is Sheldon Kopp's Eschatological Laundry List:   Eternal Truths

13. You don't really control anything.
14. You can't make anyone love you.
15. No one is any stronger or any weaker than anyone else.
16. Everyone is, in his own way, vulnerable.

23. Evil can be displaced but never eradicated, as all solutions breed new problems.
24. Yet it is necessary to keep on struggling toward solutions.
25. Childhood is a nightmare.
26. But it is so very hard to be an on-your-own, take-care-of-yourself-cause-there-is-no-one-else-to-do-it-for-you  grown-up.
27. Each of us is ultimately alone.
28. The most important things, each person must do for themselves.
29. Love is not enough, but it sure helps.
30. We have only ourselves, and one another. That may not be much, but that's all there is.
31. How strange, that so often, it all seems worth it.
32. We must live within the ambiguity of partial freedom, partial power, and partial knowledge.
33. All important decisions must be made on the basis of insufficient data.
34. Yet we are responsible for everything we do.
35. No excuses will be accepted.
36. You can run, but you can't hide.
37. It is most important to run out of scapegoats.
38. We must learn the power of living with our helplessness,.
39  The only victory lies in surrender to oneself.
40. All of the significant battles are waged within the self,.
41. You are free to do whatever you like. You need only face the consequences.
42. What do you know...for sure...anyway?
43. Learn to forgive yourself, again and again and again, and again......

This was written in 1970 for all of us searching for meaning and ways to live. The list is in the back of his book
entitled : If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him!

These truths helped me get thru some difficult times years ago, and I am finding them useful again. To my friend about
to travel, I suggest attention esp. to 13.  For me its 26 and 27.

May you all find something helpful in the laundry list.

Dumping Votes

Interesting write-up about how good votes are dumped in the elections
in our country, in our states, in our very own backyard. See BuzzFlash.
